Fragments of mosaic vessels (4 pcs.)

  • Eastern Mediterranean
  • 1st century BC -1st century AD
  • glass
  • H5.8cm(Max)

These are fragments of glass mosaics with varying colors and designs, including fragments of a vessel made by combining colored glass bands to form a striped pattern, and placing the bands into a ball-shaped mold and welding them together. High heat melts and fuses glass, producing mysterious patterns such as marbling. Many of these fragments have bulges (ribs), and these fragments are considered to have come from large ribbed bowls.
