Gogok is the accessory typical of the Kofun period. Because of its mysterious glory, it was used for sacrifice and symbolized authority. At that time, jade was prevalent in Izumo. Jasper (green), agate (red), crystal (transparent) were used as materials. Especially the agate-made Gogok was usually buried in the graves of those who had authority and power.
