In two-thirds of the year, the mysterious scenery of fog and sea of clouds could be seen, because of which the Yellow Mountain is known as a “fairyland” in China. Since ancient times, it has appeared in Chinese poetry and landscape paintings, and many literati were attracted by its beauty. Due to its great influence on the Chinese fine arts, it was listed one of the World Natural and Cultural Heritage by the United Nations in 1990. Hirayama Ikuo vividly depicts the Yellow Mountain, one of the representative mountains in China, in this painting with a length of seven meters.
